Laurence had shared my Facebook post about the service I had done to his radio on a vintage radio forum where an astute member spotted the selenium rectifier and asked if I planned to swap it out for a diode.
It uses a silicon diode in series with a resistance to compensate for the higher efficiency of the silicon diode compared to selenium rectifier. The photos show the device and its installation. Simply disconnect and remove the old selenium rectifier and mount this replacement with the supplied 1 inch standoff using the same screw that held the selenium rectifier in place.
